Women of Hope

Montgomery, Alabama is honored to have a women's organization called Women of Hope. A dear lady and breast cancer survivor, Maria Ashmore, is the founder and president of this wonderful educational and supportive organization mentoring to women and their families who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please use this link to view their website. Upcoming events include a annual Signature luncheon and fashion show October 2, 2oo8 at Aldersgate Methodist Church. Lunch is provided by Carrabba's Italian Grill and the fashion show by Coldwater Creek. There will also be a speaker sharing her experience with breast cancer. I made this card for a special friend who has battled breast cancer. The stamp set is Illuminations and the Baroque wheel. Cardstock is Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. Ink Pretty in Pink. The H in Hope has crystal effects and glitter added for some bling.

FHE Business Expo

Last Thursday, Angie Brasilford, my recruiter and I had a table at the Fellowship of Home Educators monthly meeting and business expo. Of course we gave out door prizes. There were stamp sets, a current Idea Book and Catalog and a "Box in a bag" of candy. Amy Helus won a stamp set, Julia Camp won the "Box in a bag" and Hillary Brooks of Coloring on Walls won the Idea book. We had a make and take for those who wanted to try their hand at stamping. Here is the card we made. Sock Monkey again! This time on Ruby Red, with So Saffron and Very Vanilla. This is a peek a boo card of sorts. The image is stamped inside the card, but can be seen through a circle punched in the front of the card. Chocolate Chip ink was used to stamp cupcakes on the front and for Sock Monkey.

Book to Look

Yesterday I made these "Book to Look " surprises out of DSDP (double-sided designer paper).I really like the way they came out. What is Book to Look you ask? Well, if you book a workshop with me you get to pick one of the gifts. Inside the package are two surprises, one you can eat and one you can redeem for free stamping supplies. I have 3 left, so call or email me if you would like to Book and Look. The paper is from our Holiday Treasures collection. It coordinates with Ruby Red, Old Olive, Chocolate chip and Baja Breeze cardstock. The stamp set is Deer Friends. This is an easy project we could make for your workshop! Wouldn't that be great for Halloween? Also, the "Never Seen Before" promotion is almost over. There are some great stamp sets for 15% off. Don't miss it. Hope this inspires you to get stampin!
Have a blessed day.

Another Memorial Day for me

Tomorrow, Sept. 14, 2008 would be my only sister's 48th birthday. Peggy died in 1991 of lung cancer. She was 30 years old. I have really missed her today, I guess just thinking about tomorrow being her birthday, we were
only 22 months apart. She was a very special lady and everyone who knew her well loved her and admired her. I hate my children hardly remember her. They were very young when she finished her journey here. She loved birthday celebrations. She was great to send cards and KEPT every card anyone sent her. She had boxes of cards, letters, even notes. She passed away before the internet age erupted. I don't believe she would have liked email as much as a handwritten note. So, in honor of her birthday I have made some cards for our mother. I plan to give them to her tomorrow after church. They are both done in Brocade Blue and Night of Navy, one has Whisper White and the other Bashful Blue layers. I used Night of Navy ink and white grosgrain ribbon on both cards. The stamps sets are Upsy Dasiy and Pocket Silhouettes. I am really loving both of these sets. Both of these sets are new and on SALE for 15% off. check out my Stampin Up website for more details. You can even order online now 24/7! Have a blessed day tomorrow.

Happy 50th Birthday Gordon!!!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Gordon, Happy Birthday to you. Today is my older brothers 50th birthday and for a short time he is older than me. We came to be siblings later in life. He is an incredible man. Gordon has CP, but has never let that stop him. He amazes me with how much he gets into. The pictures above show him getting married to a wonderful lady my sister-in-law, Kathie, and then at Christmas holding my grand baby Cadence. She loved Uncle Gordon's power chair rides. I had a picture I tried to download of Gordon on his honeymoon SKYDIVING! Yes, my otherwise intelligent brother jumped out of a perfectly good plane. No, he can't jump, so he was thrown? pushed? fell out? I not sure. But the smile on his face back on the ground says, "He is an adrenaline junky"! Gordon loves politics and lives in D.C. You can find him in line at most rallies or in front of the News offices just hunting out stories. He has a great sense of humor and even does some comedy with his pathfinder(the computer that talks for him). Gordon as usual I'm late with the card. I was going to post it for you today, but I'll save it for another day and let you get it first. Happy Birthday. Love you!

Grandmother's Birthday

My only living grandparent turned 90 years old September 2, 2008. Tommy and I drove out to Wake Village, Texas to help her celebrate. It was a fun but fast trip. As Hurricane Gustav made his way in-land we had to head home a day early. My grandmother amazes me. She has several health problems and recently had a small stroke, however she is still sharp as a tack. She was telling us how to cook and where to put things away. She had a small party with mostly her neighbors and some family, a cake and punch. It was a nice celebration. Here is the card I made her for her birthday. It is one of my "go to" card sketches I really like and find easy to make. I used Almost Amethyst paper and ink and Whisper white paper. The embellishments are eggplant grosgrain and the pink button. I love old people. Yes, they can be like children sometimes, but they have seen so much. Can you imagine life in 1918? The changes they have seen in their lifetime must be overwhelming. I am afraid we as a society do not give the proper respect to our elderly citizens. So, when you read this I encourage you to hug a senior citizen, go visit a shut in, call your grandparent or parent for that matter. Just a card or kind word means so much to these special people.

I'm Back

Both cards use the new In colors:Breeze and Pacific Point. Hello everybody! Sorry I have been away for a while. We have endured several hurricanes in the past 3 weeks. Some world whirls were blown in by children and others were really hurricanes. We have family stretching from Panama City, Fla to Sugartown, La. (Find that one on the map and you get an A in Geography). The weekend of the 22nd I attended our quarterly down line meeting. It was a weekend event this time and I had the pleasure of hostessing three great girls from the Birmingham area, Martha, Jenn and Kelli. We had a great time and laughed a lot. We even got stopped by the police! We had a great weekend of stamping, swaps, making punch art journals and technique pages. Stampin' Up has so many great promotions going on right now. You can find out about them on my Demonstrator website. I'm having to send this from my mother's computer as ours is not working at the moment. Don't you just love computers(when they WORK!) The two cards I am going to show you are the ones I made for our Christmas card swap and new cattie swap.
