ESL class part 2

Good Morning! I'm guessing you have a busy day today just like I do! As I write this I have no grandchildren responsibilities. This could change any given minute , but for right now, I'm Off! That means, "Get as much done as you can before they call". Yesterday I told you about the ESL class I was stamping with at my momma's church. It was really a lot of fun. The ladies seemed to really enjoy it. Thank God we only had about 20 instead of the expected 40.The ladies got very creative with their projects. Here are a few pictures I snapped as they were working.

We had several different countries represented and everyone seemed to be speaking a different language. It was very interesting trying to give them instructions for each project. Fortunately, Momma is a stamper and one of the ladies in her Sunday School class, Ms. Linda Cooper is also a talented paper crafter, sweet friend and one of my first customers 8 years ago. She came to help. With a helper at each project, we were able to help them complete their projects with some success. We made cute candy wrappers, book marks and a card.
I ended up liking them so much, I think I'll wait and share them for the blog hop this month! So you will need to come back to see what all we made. Momma's ESL Class is going to stamp!

So, today is a very busy day. My 83 year old Mother teaches ESL at her church. She has done this for several years. I have in the past done small group stamping projects for her students, some of whom speak very little English. So they started doing a craft event once a month after class. Mother came to me and ask if I'd like to help her do some stamping projects for her turn to teach the class. "Sure Mom, I'd be happy to help."  Help is the the operative word here. She tells me this week, "We had 40 that stayed last month to paint rocks. You better plan for that many." WHAT???? So yesterday I spent all day getting three projects ready for possibly 40 non- English speaking students to make. Well, I did pull out some retired DSP and came up with a couple really cute designs for candy wrappers. I then designed a really nice bookmark that also has two different designs and a fall card that can be birthday, thank you or thinking of you. You guessed it. I sat at my crafting table all day! Momma did come over about noon and stayed for an hour I think. She cut the inside layer for me. I'll share the projects later. Pray for me today!

Can you believe it?

Good morning friends, Today's the day I start sending out my  12 weeks of Christmas projects!!!! Okay, that is exciting because my email subscribers are getting a great tutorial for cute Christmas projects in their inbox every week! That is a little bit scary because -it's only 12 weeks till Christmas!!!! If you are not on my list , sign up now! I really do love the holiday season, but as I get older and I am getting older (thank God), everything seems to just move so fast. I have a hard time enjoying each month because I'm focused on what's ahead. Do you find yourself in that situation?
This month I'm working on some challenges! First one is to blog and post to Facebook everyday! This is a huge challenge for me as y'all know!!! But, I have also challenged myself to mail a card everyday this month to someone who might just need a "hug with a fold in the middle". Yesterday's card went to Geneva Beck, she is a sweet lady, very talented crafter and paper art creator. She creates beautiful elaborate designed cards and scrapbook pages so it's kind of funny I'm sending her a simple and clean, one layer card! I used the making technique to create the bubbles behind the cute poodle. This is a simple technique and I love the effect it gives. The poodle is from the Birthday Deliveries (143660) set from Stampin' Up! which just happens to be on sale for 15% off until October 10th. I also used a notecard which comes in a set of 20 with envelopes. Very convenient. They are also on the WCMD sale list until the 10th. Well, hope you liked this one. It's Tuesday and it's a beautiful day in Dixieland. Here's a card I made with the DSP and stamp set for one of my downline meetings. I love the creative folds. And I love this card displays so many of the beautiful patterns in this "delightful" paper.

Daffodil Delight (119683) 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 3", 5 1/2", 8 & 9 1/2
Delightful Daisy DSP (144137) are 1 1/4 x 4,
2 1/4" x 4" & 2 3/4" x 4".
There is a Whisper White piece stamped on the inside that is 2 1/4" x 4". The banner is stamped in Tranquil Tide and the daisy is stamped twice in Daffodil Delight and punched out with the Daisy Punch (143713).
Of course, what is a card without a little bling! A gold faceted gem makes a great daisy center.(144141)

Happy October! Happy Pumkin Spice! Happy, Happy, Happy!

Good morning friends, I am tickled to say it is not as "hot as Hades" today! It is actually very pleasant and this is refreshing. Mind you I'm still bare-footed and in very short sleeves- however, it's beautiful and I am blessed.
Love October! It is my favorite month, I think. Did you know it is Cookie month, Clergy Appreciation month, Eat Country Ham month, the list keeps going? It is Get organized week( LOL, like I could do that in a week) and Customer Appreciation week(now I can take care of that one). October 1, is National homemade cookie day and Vegetarian Day. It's 12 weeks til Christmas!!!!!

Good morning! I have a really hard time planning ahead. It's like I can't work on this project until after this event . Example Holidays come in order-Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas! I have a really hard time doing Christmas stuff before Halloween. I really even find it difficult to do Christmas before Thanksgiving. My mother's birthday is the 24-25 of November(yes she celebrates both days). For years I would try to start CHRISTMAS shopping before Black Friday, but if I bought anything for my mom I'd end up giving it to her for her birthday! With all that being said I want to offer you some tips for getting your Christmas projects done ahead of time. Okay, in time for Christmas! I have been know to send out Christmas cards the week after!!!
First tip, plan your card and other projects early. One of my good friends and customers, Debbie Whitman, buys for the coming year. She picks something she likes and purchases it this year to be next years card. No stress in deciding at the last minute. It also gives you something to work on during those down months, retreat events, rainy weekends- you get the picture.

Another tip is take advantage of card and project kits. Stampin' Up! has been offering great card and other project kits for sometime. If time is a issue, this really makes a lot of sense. In the kit you get pretty much everything you need- it's just a matter of stamp, adhere, address and mail! I have worked on kits at grandkids ball games, in the hospital waiting room, in a hotel...you get the idea. They are very portable and easy to grab and go. The Watercolor Christmas Project kit (144649) is a great way to get cute cards done quickly.

The Be Merry kit (144648) is great for some Holiday embellishments. Use these precious rosette ornaments has little gifts for friends and coworkers or use as tags on larger gifts. Everything you need is right in the kit. No gathering supplies, cutting, scoring it's all done! Easy peasy!
